Currently Crushing: Seasonal Transitions

Updated: Feb 25, 2019

It's no secret: I'm an Amazon fiend. And while Christmas has just ended, and the new year has begun, I am already finding myself searching for new wardrobe pieces that breathe new life into my closet, whether it's a fresh color or a pretty print. As I am expecting our second child in the next couple of weeks, I am holding off on any big purchases. But hey, a girl can dream right? And this girl is dreaming about spring. Included in this month's "The Love List" are a few of my current crushes. I have added some beauty essentials I can't live without, plus a few style pieces that can be easily be transitioned through the seasons.

As a mom, and wife to an accountant, it's really important for me, when purchasing clothing, to find items that can be worn again and again, while still being considered trendy, yet classic. My favorite go-to jacket for the warmer days of winter, and all through spring and fall, is a neutral leather jacket. Traditionally, I'm more of an edgy girl, and this leather jacket has me looking oh-so-cool, while the tough materials leaves me feeling super cozy and warm against the Midwest wind. I recently purchased an olive green leather jacket, and while that one is no longer available, this one is making me jealous, and you should grab it before I do. While I tend to love edgy styles (thanks to my former teenage angst)

If you're anything like me, winter has left your skin feeling dry and quite frankly, a little dead. Breathe life back into your skin with this tried and true miracle cleanser. Philosphy's line of Purity Made Simple products have become a daily essential in my beauty care routine, completely changing my love-hate relationship with my skin. My combination skin, a mixture of oily and dry spots, has tried a million different cleansing and moisturizing products. This Purity cleanser, comprised of 12 essential oils, washes away makeup and impurities, leaving skin feeling revitalized, fresh, and moisturized. This is a product I can use during the dryness of Midwest winters and through the humidity of the hot summers. It's nice to find a product I can rely on, every season. Not to mention, this cleanser not also removes makeup like magic. Follow up with the Purity Moisturizer, and it's a win-win-win!

Speaking of makeup, I am swooning over this pretty Tarte palette, “Rainforest of the Sea” (even the name is swoon-worthy) full of natural tones, the perfect compliment to every skin tone and eye-color. This vegan, cruelty-free product is a good day-time go-to, and with your new revitalized skin, a pretty sweep of neutral sparkle and a pop of gloss is all you will need to complete your day-time look for work.

Style Obsessions In high-school I was obsessed with bright neon colors, but I am so glad I have moved on from that stage of my life. Lately, I am all about muted tones like this French Connection bodycon dress in Smoulder (also available summer white!). The dress combined with this dusty blue color, is perfect work or date night dress that can easily be transitioned from late winter through spring! This bodycon style is classically made with clean lines and a simple silhouette, making it a closet staple that can be used year after year!

Although I am not into the whole neon color thing anymore, I do love a pop of color! Especially when the air starts to bloom with freshness and flowers! These earrings remind me of these glass paperweights with flowers inside of them that my grandma had all over her house. I was obsessed with them as a child, and feel unequivocally the same with these dainty teardrop earrings. These adorb floral details, in all their colorful glory, pair perfectly with the French Connection dress, and just about anything else in your closet.

Including this pretty blush tote!  Move over Regina, pink is no longer just for Wednesdays, it’s the new neutral, for all days. For me, purchasing a new bag is not simply a purchase, but a wardrobe investment that takes careful consideration. In that consideration there are a few things I am always looking for: structure, durability, and ease of use. As a mom, I need a bag that can be worn through the gates of hell and back (which for me is sometimes daycare, the work day and the McDonald’s drive-thru). As far of ease-of-use goes, I need a bag that can either A) be large enough to stuff too much into, or B) have compartmentalized spaces to minimize the amount of stuff I can shove into it.

To conclude this Current Crushes, (and thanks if you’ve stuck around this long) this Kate Spade bag is the perfect tote to shove all my things into on a busy morning rushing out the door. It’s durability and feminine details, makes it look like I’m the kind of mom who actually has her life together, but in all actuality, it’s secretly shoved into this spacious shoulder bag. For me, I have dubbed 2019 as a year of growth. If you don’t already own a Kate Spade bag, then make 2019 your year of growth too, and add this long lasting tote to your closet for spring, and forever after.
